The BCCI Has Not Insisted On A Change In The Test Series: The England Cricket Board

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has stated that the Board of Management for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not made an official request to vary the schedule of the five-Test series against England for the remaining matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

According to British media reports, the BCCI wants to move the series, which starts on August 4, a week ahead so that the remaining 21 matches of the IPL can be played. But the ECB says the series will be held as per a pre-arranged schedule. As such, the Board of India has not yet made an official request for change.

“We are in regular dialogue with the BCCI on various issues,” an ECB spokesperson told PTI. Especially when Kovid-12 is facing challenges, but there has been no official request for a change in match dates. We will host a five-match series as per the previous schedule.

If the remaining matches of IPL 2021 are not scheduled, the BCCI will lose Rs 200 crore. Despite the bio-bubble, the league was postponed due to Covid’s case. Former England captain and cricket writer Michael Atherton wrote in his column in The Times that the BCCI has asked about the possibility of a change in the schedule of the five-Test match to complete the IPL tournament.

While BCCI sources say, we are considering some options. So far no official request has been made.

The Test series will end in Old Trafford. The fifth and final match will start on September 10. If India insists officially, the ECB will have to change its ambitious ‘The Hundred’ program in addition to the limited overs series against Pakistan.
