Muslim nations united against Israel, criticizing the attack on Palestine

Fighting has erupted between the radical group Hamas and Israeli security forces following Israeli action at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. Air and rocket attacks between the two have reportedly killed several people. Now, the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), an organization of Muslim countries, has come out against Israel.

Violent clashes between Israel and the Palestinian extremist group Hamas are escalating. Violent clashes broke out between Palestinian and Israeli security forces at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem on Friday night last week. Now, the clashes have taken the form of air and rocket attacks between Israel and Hamas. There are reports of many deaths on both sides.

Now, all Muslim countries have united in support of Palestine. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation ( OIC ), a 57-member body of Muslim countries , has issued a joint statement criticizing Israel’s actions against Palestinians. Pakistan in its resolution demanded a joint statement on Israel’s action. Pakistan’s proposal has been unanimously endorsed in the OIC.

According to Pakistan’s Dawn newspaper, the meeting in New York on the matter also approved the proposal of the ambassadors of Turkey and Saudi Arabia to seek international support for convening a special session of the General Assembly. The ambassadors of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) have formed a group of member countries to raise the issue at the United Nations (UN). Pakistan is also a leading member of the group.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said in a statement on Tuesday that he was “deeply concerned” about the violence in the Palestinian territories. The United Nations has called for peace in the wake of clashes between Israeli security forces and protesters and airstrikes. The ambassadors of the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation held this necessary meeting at the United Nations to express their displeasure at Israel’s aggression and criticized Israel’s “brutal use of force” against Palestinians in East Jerusalem.

In a statement released after the meeting, OIC diplomats said that Israel’s attacks on Palestinians in East Jerusalem during Ramadan, Sheikh Jarrah and in Gaza were against all humanitarian standards and human rights laws. The diplomats of the Islamic countries urged the world community to immediately stop Israel’s efforts to snatch the homes of Sheikh Jarrah’s residents, who have lived there for decades.

More than 900 Palestinians were wounded in the Israeli attack on East Jerusalem between May 7 and 10, while more than 200 were also reported injured in the West Bank, Rupert Colville, a spokesman for the United Nations office in Geneva, quoted reports as saying. According to the report, at least 24 Palestinians were killed in the Israeli attack, including children and women. So, 17 Israeli civilians are said to have been injured in the Hamas rocket attack.
