False rumours of red alert, cloud burst spread on social networking sites
Mumbai: The social networking sites were today found spreading certain rumours that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has declared a 'red alert' in seven cities, including Mumbai, following the heavy rainfall.
According to the forwarded rumours, cities like Ahmedabad, Surat, Baroda, Mumbai, Thane, Pune and Nasik are about to face the highest rainfall ever in the next 24 hours.
On behalf of the BMC, the rumours further declared a red alert and sent messages through social networking sites that there is a possibility of cloud burst.
