A 35-year-old tribal lady was paraded bare and crushed up by villagers for “leaving her husband for one more man” in Alipurduar district. Three individuals have been arrested whereas eight others named within the FIR are absconding.
The incident came about on Thursday when the girl returned to her husband’s home after six months. Police learnt about it on Sunday when a video of the incident was broadly circulated on social media. Upon her return to the village, she was cornered by villagers, supply mentioned. In a Kangaroo courtroom, villager elders determined stripping as a type of “punishment” for her alleged extramarital affair with a person from a neighbouring village.
